The President's Column

By Pierre Morin

After a silence that lasted several months, the CVA Journal is finally back under a new format. Indeed, I am pleased to announce that The Journal will, from now on, be published electronically every three months on the CVA's website.

We believe that this change will not only allow for some sizeable economies but will enable us to reach more potential readers in Canada and elsewhere in the world.

Anyone visiting the CVA website will be able to overview the content of the articles; however, only the CVA members and Journal subscribers will have access to their full versions.

A good number of the articles in this Summer 2004 issue are dedicated to competency-based learning and underline the international pre-eminence taken by the DACUM method as illustrated in such different countries as Burkina Faso and Finland and in a report submitted in 2003 by an international consulting firm. This issue also presents an account of an experimentation on e-learning made in 2003 at the Montreal Transit Commission while another article describes the CVA's involvement in the Quebec Chamber of Commerce's Mercuriades Competition. Finally, readers will have the pleasure to read the reflections of Dr Don Glendenning, president-founder of the Holland College (PEI) and one of Canada's most acknowledged authorities in the field of education and vocational training.

Pleasant reading!
